Expo Icrontic 2015

This is the biggest Icrontic event of the year! It's the reason our community members save up their vacation time.

The premiere event is the LAN party; gaming laptop recommended but we'll have space and power for your desktop as well. Other events include the Adventure Time ropes course, a bike tour of Detroit, the annual Duct Tape Engineering Challenge, Smash Bros. tournament, Human Chess Deathmatch, Magic: The Gathering, the video game decathalon, Minecraft Challenge, homebrew workshop, Team Fortress 2 tournaments, dedicated boardgaming, and more.

Raffle auction:

As always, there will be door prizes. Tickets will be awarded for participation in sanctioned gaming tournaments and other events. Prizes each have their own raffle jar. Write your name on your tickets and deposit them by Saturday at midnight for the end-of-event drawing.

Things to bring:

• Computer (Laptop highly recommended)
• 10+ ft ethernet cable
• Power strip (if you need more than 1 outlet)
• Cash for food (check splitting)

We do NOT have spare ethernet cables, keyboards, or mice. If you're participating in the Food Tour, please bring cash to ease bill-splitting.

Accomodations:

Some Icrontic members recommend Courtyard by Marriott in Dearborn, which is about a 20 minute drive from ICHQ. There are also a wide variety of hotels close to ICHQ but hotels in the downtown Detroit area are pricey. If convenience trumps cost, please consider Doubletree, Marriot Downtown Detroit, or the brand-new Holiday Inn downtown. Anyone may stay in our spacious attic as well.

General Info:

NO LIQUOR. Expo Icrontic is a beer & wine ONLY event

No underage drinking will be tolerated.

Weather: Be prepared for any kind of weather. We recommend both shorts for mid-day and a hooded sweatshirt / jeans for evenings. Michigan weather is crazy.

Lost & Found: We DO NOT ship lost & found items, nor will we take your packaged items to the post office.

Transportation: If you are flying in, the airport code is DTW. An Icrontian will provide transportation to/from the airport; please use the forum to coordinate.

House Rules:

• Do not use the pocket doors (open always).
• Do not load/unload the dishwasher while drinking.
• Be quiet in the attic (resting-only zone).
• Do not feed the dogs or let them escape.
• Be mindful of locking doors when leaving area.
• No yelling outside past midnight (neighbors).
• Take a buddy to walk somewhere after sunset.
• Got bags? Take them to the attic. Never by the front door.

FAQ

Where should I set up my PC/Laptop before the LAN tables are ready?

The office, turret, or great room. Please don't use the pub (dining room). PCs can also be stored in the basement prior to LAN setup. You must wait for LAN setup to be entirely complete & announced before hooking up your computer in the LAN room.

Can I sleep in the house?

Yes, anyone may stay in the attic for any reason. If you cannot get to your hotel safely, please spend the night. We will have room for air mattresses. We also have a futon, 2 mattresses, 4 cots (max weight 200lbs), and 3 Sumos.

Can I shower at the house?

Yes, please occupy the bathroom for no more than 20 minutes because there is only 1. Clean towels are folded outside the bathroom. Please HANG YOUR TOWELS OUTSIDE THE BATHROOM and throw it down the laundry chute in the closet at the end.

What if I spill or break something?

Please tell Lincoln or Brian immediately. Spills need to be cleaned up quickly. Spare towels are in the broom closet in the back stairwell.

Can I do a load of laundry?

Yes, please let Lincoln know & remove your things promptly afterward. Avoid running the dryer in the evening (heat for LAN).
